Commercial Printing

Commercial printing is our specialty.

Our specialty is high-quality, color-critical, full color commercial printing that adheres to your brand guidelines. We achieve excellence with our in-house, sheet-fed, lithographic presses.

Our talented and experienced pressmen understand the art of combining the qualities of the paper and the capabilities of the individual press with just the right printing techniques to meet the customer’s requests. They consistently deliver beautiful commercial printing from color-critical artwork.

Sustainable printing is the use of environmentally-responsible practices and materials to reduce the printing industry’s impact on the natural world. The entire printing process involves sustainability practices, from graphic design to production and disposal of leftover materials. It includes minimizing our ecological footprint, conserving our resources, reducing our waste, and employing eco-friendly technologies.

Our pressmen no longer use the old-fashioned oil-based inks and toxic solvents to thin them. They don’t use poisonous chemicals in cleaning, either. They only need water for thinning and cleanup. Consequently, our cleanup results in waste water that is safe for city disposal. Surprisingly, water-soluble inks also allow us to reduce the amount of water we use.

Post-consumer recycled paper is made from paper that was printed on once before. Paper manufacturers make beautiful and eco-friendly papers from recycled newspapers, magazines and office paper.

Pre-consumer recycled paper is another type of recycled paper that we offer. We recycle craps of paper with no ink that we trim away, collect, and send out for processing. Many wonderful pre-consumer recycled papers are available.

Specialty papers can be made from bamboo, cotton, industrial waste and agricultural waste. Recycled paper is a big part of our environmentally sustainable offerings.

The process of creating artwork and transferring text and images to printing plates is completely digital. Our graphic designers create the artwork on a computer and export it in PDF format with the correct ICC color profiles for the individual press to be used. Next, they transfer the PDF to our in-house server.

Then our production team opens the PDF on our raster-image-processing (RIP) station, which separates the artwork according to the various colors of ink to be used. The team sends the resulting digital separations electronically to our digital platemaker, which prints the digital separations onto plastic printing plates, one for each color of ink.

Digitally-made printing plates do not require any further processing. Completely eliminated are the old-fashioned metal printing plates and the acid bath in which we used to etch them. By eliminating the dangerous chemicals formerly used in commercial printing, our digital design and platemaking process greatly reduces our impact on the environment.

Paper coatings are the finishing touch that really make your project stand out. Some coatings add protection against scuffing and fingerprints. Other coatings even out the reflective qualities of the paper and inks and make the entire piece look more professional. Some coatings add an eye-popping, “wow” factor to the final piece. Spot coatings are a good example of attention-getting finishes.

We have coatings that go beyond visual appeal and encourage the end-user to touch the piece. Tactile finishes are quite popular and leave a lasting impression with your audience. UV, Soft Touch, Aqueous, or Matte coatings are all ready for use at your request. Just ask us! Our services include spot coatings and full-coverage coatings that are all done in-house.

Custom touches are possible, too. Our additional equipment allow us to provide customized dielines, foil stamps, embossing and custom inks for high quality projects. We partner with our customers to find customized solutions to fit their needs.

Die cutting (or a dieline) allows your project to have custom shapes, contours, or cutouts. Unconventional corners, the outline of an image or logo, or simply a hole to create a window will make your project striking. A diecut provides visual and tactile pizzaz.

Foil stamping uses heat to fuse the foil onto the paper in a particular design or text. The shiny foil adds shimmer and reflections to your piece. Foil comes in many colors, including metallic, clear, and holographic. We often combine foil stamping with embossing.

Embossing requires a custom-made die to press a design halfway into the paper. The result is a three-dimensional effect that allows your audience to actually feel your design or logo. Embossing can be either raised or depressed, as your design requires. It is subtle and adds elegance to your final piece. We frequently combine embossing with color printing and foil stamping for maximum impact.

Do you need an ink custom-made for your project? We have the resources to have custom inks made to match your brand guidelines. All of our inks are soy-based and water-soluble to protect the environment.

We have Graphic Designers to help you design your project. We can assist you with Direct Mail, too. Our Bindery Department offers a full range of services to complete any job, including collating, custom tabs, and special bindings, such as spiral, saddle stitch and perfect binding. We work with our customers to provide unique solutions to meet their goals.

Our customers tell us that it is so nice to have all these services in one place!
